Mercedes-Benz launches India’s first ‘BS VI compliant’ S-Class

Luxury carmaker Mercedes-Benz has launched the enhanced version of Mercedes-Benz S-Class. The new S- Class 350 d is India’s first ‘BS VI compliant– Made in India, for India’, vehicle, two years ahead of the regulation. The new Mercedes-Benz S-Class has the latest generation of radar-based driving assistance systems that reduce the risk of accidents and enhance the protection of occupants as well as other road users. Besides, it has Rear Seat Comfort Package and high luxury, technology and entertainment system packages that enrich the passenger experience, the company said.

“By launching the first ever ‘Made in India, for India’ BS VI car, we have set a benchmark among all car manufacturers to support the Government in mitigating the rising pollution levels in the country. The new S-Class is also a highly intelligent automobile and is available with a host of features and highlights that uses the cutting edge technology, thus enhancing its driving appeal as well as the passenger experience; while being uncompromising on safety. With the introduction of the new diesel S 350 d and the petrol S 450, we are presenting our Indian customers the finest of offerings from our formidable product line-up and reinforce our motto of ‘The Best Keeps Leading’ for 2018,” said Roland Folger, Managing Director & CEO, Mercedes-Benz India.

“The OM 656 engine used in the S 350 d is the most powerful passenger car diesel engine designed by Mercedes-Benz India; the inline-six cylinder motor delivers an output of 210 kW (286 hp). The new engine is also designed to comply with future emissions legislation (RDE – Real Driving Emissions). Although the output has increased noticeably compared to the preceding model, the new engine consumes up to 6% less fuel,” a statement from the company said.
