iCAT hosts International Symposium on Lighting

International Centre for Automotive Technology (ICAT) organized, International Symposium on Lighting (ISOL) for the automotive fraternity across the globe on 23rd and 24th November at Epicenter, Gurgaon.

The two-day event had an auspicious beginning with the “lighting of the Lamp ceremony” by the chief guest of the day, Ambuj Sharma (Additional Sectary – Department of Heavy Industry), Guests of Honour Mr. Sanjay Bandopadhyaya, CEO – NATRIP, Vikram Pawah, Managing Director, Harley Davidson Motor Company India, Tom von Bonsdorff, Managing Director,  Volvo Auto India, C V Raman, Executive Director, Maruti Suzuki India and Dinesh Tyagi, Director – ICAT.

The inaugural ceremony was followed by a resonating LASER show, to represent the light technology and purpose of ISOL 2015. This show also welcomed all the delegates and portrayed the amazing journey of ISOL along with its partners.

8In the technical sessions speakers represented their research and discussed topics -“Adaption of Advanced Lighting Technology to the emerging market ,New semiconductor light sources (LED, OLED, LASER) – future possibilities for styling and functionality. Comparison between AIS(Automotive Industry Standard) and UNECE Regulation for lighting and signaling devices. GTB’s Role in facilitating Regulatory cooperation among Global regions” and the “Measurement traceability for LEDs and SSLs. Material Solutions for automotive LED lighting” and “Next Generation Standardized LED Light sources for RCL”. The eminent speakers on the first day were from Hella Germany, Varroc Lighting Germany, FAKT Italy, Fiem India,  Osram USA, Sabic India, and LUMILEDS Germany.

The technical sessions was followed by an open air panel discussion in the amphitheatre on “Self reliance in Automotive Technology”. The panel had participation from all over the industry with senior members from Maruti Suzuki India Ltd., Mahindra & Mahindra, RNTBCI, TATA Motors and Lumax Industries.

Day two of ISOL 2015 started with the technical sessions which highlighted the  new halogen lamp technology, energy efficient LED headlamp for two wheelers, Regulatory comparison between India & Japan, Automotive regulation in ASEAN, Optimization of future products and design productivity and measurement of LED light sources & uncertainty calculation. The speakers from Stanley Japan, Thai Stanley Thailand, OPTIS France, LUMILEDS Germany and ICAT, India presented these lectures.

Owing to the road rage these days on Indian roads, ISOL 2015 had organized a panel discussion on “Losing Light of Life on Indian Roads! Lets join Hands together in arresting road accidents in dark hours”. This discussion was moderated by speaker from M/s. Hella India Lighting. Other panelist included speakers from Ashok Leyland, Tata Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra, SAFE and VE Commercial Vehicles. This panel discussion had important outcomes with a resolve that more emphasis will be given on education and enforcement of safety rules.

Apart from the technical discussions, ISOL 2015 had an exposition in which the major players of the Automotive Lighting Industry displayed their product range and the upcoming technologies.

For the first time ISOL-2015 awards were presented. The awards for Best Innovations in Automotive Lighting Technology was presented to Lumax Industries, for Excellence in Automotive Lighting Technology to Hella India Lighting, for Best Exhibitor to Varroc lighting System, for Best Presentation to Govind Kumar of SABIC and for Best Technical Presentation to Dr. Wolfgang Schiene LUMILEDS – Automotive Lighting.
