Indian Minister for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises Arvind Ganpat Sawant has inaugurated ICAT-Centre 2 facilities and seminar centre (Test Track and Administrative & Auditorium Block (ISC)) located at Sector M-11, IMT Manesar at International Centre for Automotive Technology (ICAT). The event took place on the sidelines of the technology appreciation workshop for Government agencies organised by ICAT as a prelude to NuGen Mobility Summit from November 27-29, 2019 at ICAT Centre-II, IMT Manesar, Haryana. Dinesh Tyagi, Director, ICAT (International Center for Automotive Technology) was also present.
Minister stated that India should focus on the local requirements of the customer and industry while developing a policy framework for India. He also emphasized that the solutions which are relevant for other countries may not be relevant for Indian context. He also emphasized that we should consider the Indian industry with its ancillary industry by embarking on new technological advancements. He expressed his concern that India has a large manpower pool for whom we have to ensure job security. He cautioned that management of E-waste is becoming a matter of grave concern and need to be addressed carefully. In his speech, he also mentioned that the import of Lithium should not replace the crude import as we migrate towards electrification of vehicles.
